What about that horrific hail storm this year?
I am an artist liaison at Delfest and one of the bands (Great American Taxi, with Vince Herman and Drew Emmitt) that I worked with this weekend and I were stuck on the Campground Stage hovering over their instruments trying to protect them as the stage hands, stage manager, and sound guys tried to hold onto equipment (sometimes unsuccessfully) . . . everything got wet, equipment was ruined, hail pelted us, and blew and hurt people, people were sruck by lightening, trees fell, a car was smashed (not totaled). People's camps and possessions were, ruined, sometimes destroyed . . . it was amazing, scarey . . . there will be videos posted by many!
But through it all, people were helping each other and the show went on after some assessment of damages! Leftover Salmon played on the Main Stage after the staff got it up and running again! Truly amazing work by so many!
We humans are so resilient! . . .and compassionate too!
Thanks to several, I had warm dry clothes lent to me, and others on staff with me, offered to share their hotel room with me, so I had a warm, dry place to sleep!
So thank you everyone, for all your care and concern, all your help and mostly the great friendships!
So here's to next year . . . let's hope it is a little less eventful!
And thank you, Mother Nature, for not taking anyone out!
